The process of selecting the perfect slabs and building your Custom Live Edge Table – Thanks Jason!

Thanks to Jason Vedadi for allowing Wood Vendors the pleasure of providing this gorgeous Live Edge Walnut table for his beautiful home and sharing the pictures and the process. We hope you enjoy it for many years to come!
1) First Step: Customer selects the green, rough-cut slabs they like from our massive inventory of live edge slabs. We have slabs available in most domestic species to match any decor. After the slabs are cut green, we carefully air dry and then kiln dry our slabs to less the 10% moisture content to minimize any movement down the road.
2) Time to pick out a base! Custom bases can be made upon request.
3) Re-inspected, kiln dried slabs are approved by customer or if for any reason you don’t like them, you can pick another set!
4) Cut-lines drawn on selected slabs by our master craftman, Titus for customer approval.
5) Titus then works his magic by book-matching the 2 slabs together.
6) Titus secures the tabletop to its base.
7) Your table is ready for it’s new home! We package our slabs and finished products to protect them during transit.
8) The day is here! Your table is home and how will you decorate it?

Hi Pat. The tables from the slabs I purchased are done. I remembered that you had requested some pics so here they are. Great product and great working with you.
It was a pretty unusual project. That is a mastodon tusk, at least 10,000 years old. The large ‘Zambezi River Table’ has a skull at it’s center. The tables were designed to display these items, as requested by my client in Alaska. I just got back from that trip.

Tom was great to work with, I live in Florida and was ordering a giant live edge slab of ash for a conference table. Looking online I found a couple slabs the client liked and I called to see if they were available, Tom answered and was happy to pull the 16ft slabs out and photo graph them for me and send me updated pictures and we made our decision. Very happy with the wood, everything described clearly and photographed accordingly, no surprises when it showed up. Definitely would recommend to anyone needing great hardwood.

As an architect and a new homeowner, I spent months looking for the right table. When my partner and I decided that a live edge table for our wide-open dining room would be the ideal feature, I spent another 2 months finding the right slab and the right team to do it, and the result had to be perfect. I found not only what I was looking for, but one of the most talented furniture makers to execute it. My table is 120″, a rare and beautiful slab that has a number of unique features. The legs were made to my specification and turned out beautifully.
Titus has a deep understanding of his craft, speaking to him I felt confident that my goals were being heard, I felt I had a say in the process and also a great team to explain and walk me through my options.
The result is truly magnificent, I imagine this table will be passed on to future generations as a great work of art. So much great care was taken to highlight all the beautiful characteristics of this slab.
As someone who works with a lot of specialists in my day job, working with Pat at Wood Vendors was always a great pleasure. He and his team are careful, professional and are just so much fun to work with because you can feel their passion and love for what they do. I am thinking I should work with Titus and the team again in the future for some other bespoke pieces I am dreaming of already. Thank you Wood Vendors team!
