Pat — Hi. I meant to reach out yesterday. The slab arrived and we thought it was amazing!
Today we trimmed it to a rectangle (keeping the off fall) and applied a coat of shellac to protect it until it’s time to use it.
My husband (a carpenter and wood crazy guy) says it is the most magnificent piece of wood he’s ever worked on!
Here are a couple photos of each side. We’ll have to make the tough decision of which side to have facing up!
Thank you so very much!
Happy Holidays!
Warmest regards, Tracy Smikle

Thank you for the wonderful photos!
Kyle at East Texas Grain and Knot did an incredible job on this zebra wood door.
He used 8/4 quarter sawn zebra wood to give this door its unique look.
We can’t wait to see what’s next!
Check them out below at this link.

“I worked with Pat for a great 42” x 72” Cherry Slab and opted for a Finished Edge vs a Live Edge and came out fabulous. Extremely impressive centerpiece in the kitchen and I look forward to it warming up in the morning sun.

“Hi Tom, hope all is well. Here are some images of the finished table from this slab. Definitely one-of-a-kind and perfect for the Florida ocean front home it was delivered to.
Please extend my thanks to the entire team that prepped and shipped this slab.
Best regards!

“Pictures of the finished mantel and support beams inside the home and finished support beams for the main entry and the side porch are attached. -Tom U. “
We had the pleasure of helping Tom and Sheryl with the beams in their new house!
They picked out Appalachian Hardwood beams in a hand-hewn texture.
Tom and Sheryl added some stain and finish on to these beams to make them pop and last longer!
Thank you Tom and Sheryl!

“One unexpected feature of this slab that didn’t really emerge until I sealed the slab before finishing, we’re the presence of visible symmetric medullary rays over the length of the entire slab. I’ve only seen rays like that on quarter sawn maple and oak, not a massive walnut slab. They were even visible on the live edges and shape shifted in a holographic way
from different light and viewing angles. Very nice!
Best regards!

“Hi Thomas — the project is finally complete. Custom made cabinets with the wood slab for the top. The slab is perfect and fit perfect. I wanted to send a couple pics. Check ’em out!
Thanks, Chris”
These slabs were surfaced by Titus and finished by Chris with Dalys Profin Gloss.

Hi Pat. The tables from the slabs I purchased are done. I remembered that you had requested some pics so here they are. Great product and great working with you.
It was a pretty unusual project. That is a mastodon tusk, at least 10,000 years old. The large ‘Zambezi River Table’ has a skull at it’s center. The tables were designed to display these items, as requested by my client in Alaska. I just got back from that trip.
Thanks, Rich
