    BOTANICAL NAME:  Peltogyne spp.
    COMMON NAME:  Violetwood, Pala morado
    COLOR DETAILS:  Bright purple, turning dark brown with exposure to light
    WEIGHT:  approx. 5.5 lbs per B.F.
    WORKABILITY:  Machines and finishes well. Can be hard to sand due to oils in wood. Slower knife speeds recommended to avoid burning wood.

    Purpleheart is a very hard, dense hardwood imported primarily from South America.  It is a very functional specie of wood that can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications.  It's unique purple coloration makes it perfect for use as an accent wood or in items such as pool cues, decorative boxes or intarsia.
