White Oak is one of the most versatile North American hardwoods, valued for golden-brown tones, water resistance, and durability. The appearance varys widely by how it's cut.  Rift White Oak has a vertical grain, while Quartersawn produces striking medullary rays.  Flat sawn White Oak has catherdral graining. Strong and dependable, it’s widely used for furniture, flooring, cabinetry, trim, and boatbuilding. Its closed grain takes finishes evenly, adding timeless appeal to modern and traditional designs alike.  Compare with Red Oak Lumber or Ash Lumber.

    ORIGINS:  White Oak is widespread throughout the Eastern U.S. but can be found in more limited quantities and many sub-species as far west as Oregon
    BOTANICAL NAME:  Quercus alba
    COMMON NAME:  White Oak
    COLOR DETAILS:  Sapwood is light white and heartwood can range from tan to light brown.
    WEIGHT:  Approximately 3.9 lbs. per BF Kiln dried
    WORKABILITY:  Machines, nails and screws very well with pre-boring advised. Takes a nice stain and finishes well.
