American Chestnut lumber is one of the most sought-after reclaimed hardwoods on the market—and for good reason. Once a dominant species in Eastern U.S.A. forests, American Chestnut (Castanea dentata) was prized for its strength, rot resistance, and appearance. Though the species was nearly wiped out by the chestnut blight (Endothia parasitica) in the early 1900s, its legacy lives on through reclaimed and extremely rare heritage lumber.
